In our daily roundup of funding and deals, one name continually stands out in the volume and dollar figures of its investments: Tiger Global Management. Already in July, the firm has participated in $1.31BN in investments across 8 companies. The firm's reputation as the busiest venture investors, period, is well deserved. It was the top dealmaker, with a record-breaking 81 deals in the record-breaking second quarter that saw over $150BN in total VC industry investments. With $65BN under management and another $10BN fund on the way, the business is made up of $35BN in private equity funds and $30BN in public companies.

This New York-based firm has 20 years of experience in private company investments, with early success in investments in Facebook and LinkedIn. The firm focuses mainly on the Internet, software, consumer, and fintech industries. The “Global” in the firm's name is no misnomer; the company places many investments in private companies abroad as well, recently sharing an $800MM Series E with SoftBank Vision Fund on the London-based fintech company, Revolut, whose promise of digital banking across nations and currencies has brought its valuation to a cool $33BN. Most of Tiger's global investments, however, are in China and India. Inshorts, for example, provides 60-word recaps of top news stories out of India and just received a $60MM investment led by Vy Capital.
